Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. The name was given to her by her parents for the town in which she grew as a child. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father and mother are both Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. Ryder has a younger brother Uria and two half-siblings Jubal and Sunyata. At the age of seven, Ryder was seven, her family moved to Mendocino County California. The town didn't even have electricity. Ryder was a voracious reader and spent her time studying books since she had no television. In 1983 when she was twelve, Ryder was accepted into the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. In 1986 she was offered her first major-screen appearance in the film Lucas at just fifteen years old. Ryder was bullied at high school. Ryder was hopeful that her work as an actress would help. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. Still she continued pursuing her dream. In 1988, when Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that she got her big break. Ryder was later cast in successful roles. In 1993 she won an Academy Award for The Age of Innocence.
